Dinner at the Ahwanee Hotel

It was tuesday at about noon when I exited the backcountry and got to my vehicle. I suspected that this might be a good time to see if the Ahwanee Hotel had a cancellation...sure enough they did, although it was 5:00pm before the room was ready. I don't think i've ever been so anxious to have a shower...but I passed the time by driving up Tioga Pass road far enough to photograph some nice wildflowers in the high country.

Here are some closer pictures of the three main plates. Note the Ahwanee's distinctive patterns on the rim of the plates. This is a pretty satisfying meal after days of dehydrated food.
